From start to finish it was an absolute disaster and I have nothing positive I can say about Heald. If I could give them 0 stars, I would!

If you value your sanity and want to keep your stress levels to a minimum I would not recommend using them. I'm not sure where to start with this review as there is so much to complain about. It was the most awful and stressful experience. What makes it even worse is the fact it was the head of conveyancing (Tom Ansell) who was dealing with my case. He basically pretty much mucked up everything he did. I instructed him to create a legal pack for an auction. I did my due diligence and spoke to him over the phone before I signed the contract. He assured me he knew how to do a legal pack and said he had done them before, which I now very much doubt. He assured me he could work to the two week timeline the auction house needed.

It was over a week late, and was missing around 40 documents, which I then had to separately forward on to the auction company myself. I had to tell him what to put in it. When he sent over the initial draft pack to me if was missing key documents such as the draft contract. I mean, how can you sell a property without a contract!? I had to send the draft pack back to him at least twice to add missing documents or correct information it contained. I thought that he had finally got it right after the back and forth, and he sent it over to the auction house. Unfortunately, after a call with someone there, it came to light after the auction went live that the majority of the leasehold management pack was missing. Really important documents such as the LPE1 and all the Section 20 notices. I was absolutely livid. After all my effort making sure everything was there, he still managed to muck it up. I emailed him to ask why these documents were missing. Got a very flimsy excuse which didn't stack up and received no apology regards the oversight.

Communication was also poor at times. At one point he didn't call back/email back for at least three days, after leaving voicemails and sending chaser emails. His secretary Elaine was snotty to me on the phone on a couple of occasions when I called to ask to speak to him. Couple of times she also didn't return calls when I asked her to update me.

Once the auction had finished and I knew I wouldn't need to use them anymore, I put in a formal complaint to the managing partner asking for a 50% refund, which I thought was very generous of me. I pretty much did the pack myself and he didn't even deserve half the fee in my opinion. The managing partner could see from my email and supporting evidence that something had gone seriously wrong and agreed the partial refund, however, even that was difficult to get hold of. Three weeks later and it still hadn't been paid back, so I had to chase him for this.

We have used Lauren on several occasions now, most recently to help with my mums move, and I honestly cannot recommend her highly enough. Lauren is exceptionally efficient, professional and incredibly thorough. Her attention to detail is outstanding, and she has a real ability to make what can be a stressful process feel straightforward and completely under control. What really sets Lauren apart is how accessible and responsive she is. Whenever you call or need advice, she is there, and you never feel as though you are chasing for an update. She communicates clearly, keeps everything moving and genuinely gives you confidence that everything is being taken care of. She is simply excellent at what she does, and the level of service she provides is exceptional. Having used her several times, I wouldnt hesitate to use Lauren again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a solicitor they can completely rely on.
