About
Report
Choosing the right solicitor can be difficult. There are big national companies with many branches, and small one man bands. Ideally you need a company that has a solicitor who specialises in your particular need and has the experience to make sure that you get the best representation. Pleass Thomson specialises in key areas, matrimonial and childrens law, conveyancing, wills and probate, employment and commercial leases. We have solicitors who specialise in these areas, and are able to offer clear, up to date advice to help you make your decisions.
House and Home
Report
If you're buying or selling a property, freehold or leasehold, residential or commercial, we, at Pleass Thomson, should be your first choice for help and advice. With our wealth of experience and local knowledge, you can be sure that the legal part of the transaction will be smoothly and rapidly concluded.
Wills and Probate
Report
If you haven't made a will yet, consider the benefits. It will stop family members going head to head over assetts. You can designate a guardian for a child or vulnerable adult. You can leave personal items to specific loved ones. You can make gifts to charity. For your will to correctly mirror your desires it must be carefully drawn up.
Powers of Attorney
Report
These are vital documents to have in place. The Government has recently stated that they would like everyone to have Powers of Attorney in place. There are basically two types, covering Personal Welfare and Financial Matters. You have to have mental capacity to sign these documents. It is a common misunderstanding to wait until capacity is lost before thinking about having a Power of Attorney. If you lack capacity it will be necessary to have all your affairs overseen by a Government Department known as the Court of Protection.
