Claire's legal career started in 1998 whilst working in the Legal Services Department at Dorset County Council. She qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2004. With 21 years experience within the property and conveyancing world she is a keen and knowledgeable Director of the firm.

Your Conveyancer is the person who will carry out the legal paperwork in connection with the sale or purchase of your property and make sure that it is properly dealt with and registered at Land Registry in accordance with current requirements. Your Conveyancer will ensure that on completion of a purchase any Mortgages secured over the property by the Seller are paid off and the property is transferred to the Purchaser free of any debts incurred by the previous owners.
The Basic Steps

First make an offer on the property you would like to buy and tell the Estate Agent what you are willing to pay, subject to contract. Once the Seller has accepted your offer the Estate Agent will prepare a Memorandum of Sale which is sent out to both Buyer and Seller and to their respective Conveyancers.

We have used Wessex Conveyancing since 2005, they have handled five purchases and four sales for us. Also, we recommended them to my local family members who have used them too. Jane White handled our early transactions and when she retired Mrs Rachel Taylor took over all our instructions. Went with Wessex following good reviews from friends and families from several years ago. Something has clearly happened to cause the service to go downhill. Very stressful experience. Passed from person to person, not kept appropriately informed, not provided with all relevant documentation, documents containing incorrect information and incorrect addresses sent to us. Our mortgage advisors had to step in to help us move things forward in the end. Hopefully things will improve!

First, Wessex always have been good, efficient and professional when i have used them in the past. Always using Andrea before her leaving, who i found helpful, and very professional. My flat was sold last year in December, starting the sale in June nearly 6 months to sale and i was not buying any other property. I was given 3 different solicitors, in total.
I found trying to get information on the sale of my flat was often very difficult, slow, and updates non existing. Only when i started to lose my temper, after a few months, and phone them nearly every day for the last couple of months, was progress made and my flat finally sold. My advice to anyone using Wessex Conveyancing now or in future, do phone them often for the service you are paying good money for, or, like me you will be put to the bottom of the pile. '
