Broadway solicitors was set up in 1999 as a partnership. By 2002 Bhavna Desai, the current principal and solicitor became the sole owner of the business and has carried the firm forward as a sole practitioner. After qualifying as a solicitor in 1995, Bhavna practised both Criminal and Family law. She decided to dedicate her expertise solely to family law in 2003 which is an area of law she is passionate about. In particular, she deals with the financial aspects of relationship breakdown, which often involves complex issues.

Providing one year has passed since the date of marriage, either or both parties to a marriage or civil partnership can apply to the court for a divorce order on the ground that it has broken down irretrievably.
