Settlement Agreements
Report
If you are an employee who has been presented with an offer of settlement, or you believe that circumstances may be heading that way, we advise that you contact us on 01865 338037 as soon as possible. In fact, for the agreement to be binding, an employee must be independently advised by employment solicitors.
Redundancy
Report
We advise both employers and employees on redundancy. In summary, a redundancy situation arises when an employer needs fewer employees to carry out work of a particular kind or is closing down premises or moving operations to new premises. Often this can lead to claims for unfair dismissal if it is not handled correctly.
Unfair Dismissal
Report
Employees with two years' continuous employment are protected under the Employment Rights Act 1996 against being unfairly dismissed. This means, in short, that an employer has to act fairly when dismissing an employee, otherwise the employee can claim unfair dismissal. In some cases, the employer acts in such a way that the employee feels there is no option but to resign.
