From Our Website

We have been awarded the Cyber Essentials accreditation - demonstrating that we have in place systems and controls to ensure that we are best protected against any internal and external threats. This includes not only our computer hardware but our entire internet facing infrastructure at Adams Harrison, including firewalls and internet routers.

At Adams Harrison, we have a residential conveyancing team to help take the stress out of moving home. Our aim is to make the conveyancing process as smooth and as stress free as possible. We investigate all matters fully in order to protect your long term property and financial interests, while still moving quickly and with a minimum of fuss. Many people are unfamiliar with the conveyancing process, and we appreciate that even those who have experience of it may be unaware of what actually happens, or even question why it is necessary.

We understand business decisions can be difficult at times, particularly when they involve people (your staff). We will guide you through the process, offering legal and practical solutions that we will assist you to implement. Most of all we aim to avoid you having to face any claim or litigation but if that cannot be avoided we are on hand with experienced and qualified solicitors to represent your organisation. We have been advising farmers and looking after their legal affairs for over 170 years and there is not much we do not know about farmers and their legal requirements and we have a growing portfolio of farming clients in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex.

Rhodri Rees is a Senior Partner and specialises in Commercial Property and Business and Commercial work. He is also responsible for the residential property work undertaken in all three offices and is the Conveyancing Quality Scheme Senior Responsible Officer. He is also our Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO). Melanie Pratlett qualified as a solicitor in 1988 and has been with Adams Harrison since 1993 becoming a partner in 1996. She specialises in the Wills Estates and Trust areas of the practice and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

If you have been named as ‘executor' in a Will, you will need to apply for a Grant of Probate in order to deal with the deceased's affairs. This legal document will be used to show that the executor has the right and authority to deal with finances and to share out assets and property. If, on the other hand, you have not been named in the Will or there is no Will, but you are a close relative, you may be able to apply for a Grant of Letters of Administration. This will confirm the administrator's authority and allow them to deal with the deceased's estate.

Our Family Law department consists of Resolution accredited specialists, a member of the Law Society's Children Panel and a collaborative solicitor. This enables us to ensure that your case is dealt with by the solicitor most specialised and suited to your case. We are committed to the Resolution Code of Practice, which promotes constructive negotiation in order to resolve disputes. The Head of our family department was the first collaborative lawyer in both Haverhill and Saffron Walden. We are a publicly funded franchised firm, which means that if you are eligible, we are able to assist you with securing Legal Aid funding.
