Customer Testimonials

Would like to thank Karen McCormick for her professionalism in acting on our behalf when purchasing our new shared ownership house. She was polite and dealt with our purchase in a speedy manner

Karen McCormick was fantastic at explaining the processes involved in purchasing our garage. We came across many difficulties and Karen kept us up to date regarding developments and ensured we understood any implications before advising us how to proceed. She ensured where there was the need we were insured against potential future implications so we had peace of mind to exchange and complete. Thank you Gard and Co for providing a superb service!

I used them to purchase my home and it was a great decision, I had to do very little because they had it all covered. What's more is they offer discount to military personnel. Great firm.

If you're based in Devon, Cornwall or beyond, our law firm in Plymouth can assist you; whether you need support through a personal matter or need to solve a business related dispute. We offer a personable service ensuring our clients know that their feelings and opinions have been understood before proceeding with any important legal decisions.

The Gard & Co private client department have been receiving numerous calls from concerned clients in relation to Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Many wish to update an existing Will or make a new one and we are being asked whether or not this can be done under the current social distancing guidelines. Of course with the current lockdown and social distancing many clients are concerned as to how they can get their wills witnessed. It is a formal requirement that a Will is in a written format (handwritten or typed) and it must be signed by the testator (person making the Will) in the presence of two witnesses who must see the testator sign.

Robert is a partner of the firm and heads up the private client team. He specialises in contentious probate work. He advises on all disputes relating to executors, administering estates, court of protection work and inheritance act claims and claims relating to the validity of wills and trust disputes. Regarded locally as a formidable opponent in contentious matters, Robert has recently advised on a number of complicated and high value disputes. Robert has previous experience in the areas of civil rights, immigration and criminal law and is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

Christopher is a member of the commercial team and has over 30 years' experience as a solicitor. After competing his law degree and serving articles with a leading Plymouth firm Christopher qualified in 1980. He has practiced in Plymouth ever since. Christopher has played an active part in a number of voluntary organisations, including AgeUK and, reflecting his keen interest in sailing, his local yacht club.

Jane specialises in the production of wills, powers of attorney and trusts, tax planning, administering estates, advising the elderly, court of protection work and the provision of executorship services. I must also mention the professional way your staff has dealt with my phone calls from Australia. They were exemplary in the way they dealt with my enquiries.' The wills are, we believe, not just well written and take good beneficial account of matters such as inheritance tax but also accord exactly with our wishes.
