From Our Website
Fernandes Vaz are a niche immigration firm in practice for 30+ years with a wide breadth of experience in all areas of immigration law and this gives us a cutting edge in this field as we are able to advise from a wide ranging perspective. Immigration is an ever changing area of law and keeping up with developments is critical to providing a good service and in this respect we pride ourselves on our ability to stay abreast of the changes. Our ethos is that we will do our job so well that you will want to come again and bring your friends.
The principal of the firm, Maria Fernandes has extensive experience in a wide number of areas of immigration. A former barrister, she began her career in immigration in the 1980s representing clients at immigration appeals. She later joined a City firm where she established and developed their immigration unit with a focus on business related work. She is an active member of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association. Having in the past served as Council member of the Law Society, Chair of the Immigration Law Committee of the Law Society, President of the Middlesex Law Society as well as Executive member on a number of panels set up by the Home Office and the Foreign Office, she now concentrates her time and efforts on reform and the improvement of service standards for all.
Applications for bail both to Chief Immigration Officers and the Tribunal. We represent at the First Tier Tribunals and all the upper courts. A particular specialism is our experience in judicial review applications to the Administrative Court where this is justified. We can make urgent applications to judges for a stay of removal where necessary. This background of experience within the courts informs the manner in which we pursue our matters. We maintain a database of hand-picked and competent barristers and select the most appropriate barrister based on their particular strengths.
We have the know how to guide businesses expertly through this process advising on the application process as well as the process of maintaining the system thereafter. We have extensive experience on suspensions or revocation of licences and brought the first case on this matter which ended at the Court of Appeal.
We have an excellent understanding of the provisions of EU Law and have been closely following the Brexit negotiations. We are able to advise and assist with business or personal applications which require knowledge of EU Law.
